The Catherine’s Palace is located in the place called Pushkin. It is a former imperial palace, the official summer residence of three Russian monarchs, a masterpiece of Russian baroque of the XVIII century. Walk through the large park (107 hectares) around the Residence and enjoy fresh air and beauty of the nature.
A visit to the Amber Room - the “eighth wonder of the world” will become a cherry on the cake and the highlight of your journey.
Pavlovsk is the most comfortable of the imperial residences in the suburbs of St. Petersburg. It was built later than others: right up to the end of the 18th century, on the bank of the Slavyanka river, there were forest areas, where Catherine II loved to hunt. In 1777 she granted them to Pavel Petrovich as a summer cottage. Soon wooden mansions were erected with the names "Pauluste" (Paul’s Joy) and "Mariental" (Valley of Mary). In 1782-1786, architect Charles Cameron built a large palace with side colonnades and service buildings. In the short reign of Paul I, the palace was rebuilt and expanded.
